Everything is Abi-Normal

We have an announcement, Gordon and I just added on to our family this last weekend… and no, it’s not baby news… its puppy news! I got Gordon a puppy for his birthday and we picked her up last Friday. She will be 8 weeks old this Friday and she is so cute. Gordon thought long and hard for a name and surprisingly he came up with something so cute and not even strange like we all thought he would. He named her Abi, short for Abigail. He said that he has always liked that name, so he named her Abi Normal Flannery.

The first three nights with a new puppy was very very tough. She woke up every couple of hours just crying and crying. Gordon and I had to sleep with ear plugs just to get through the night. And to top it off, Gordon and I got food poisoning on Saturday night. I had it way worse than Gordon did and I was laid out for a couple of days, which made my enjoyment of the puppy the first couple of days very hard and hectic.

Potty training has not been such a challenge as it was with Rocky. It is way easier to train a female than a male. Males just want to mark everything. We have her peeing in one spot right now, on a puppy training pad and she has it down pretty good, however she doesn’t get that she also has to poop on these things also, but she gets it part of the time.
Monday I stayed home from work from having the food poisoning and Gordon had left Abi in the little hallway. Somehow she new Rocky and I were still in the bedroom and she cried and cried and pounded on the door. I finally woke up, opened the door and Rocky froze in his tracks… I noticed that he was looking all around and wouldn’t cross over the doorway and then I saw why… little Abi had apparently pooped and stepped in it and then had proceeded to scratch at the door, the walls and carpet and had poo smeared everywhere in the hallway! Here is was sick with the stomach flu trying to keep my food down while I picked up and cleaned up the poop all around me. I was crying and yelling at Abi who was a pathetic sight.

Abi absolutely loves Rocky and tries to sleep with him and play with him, but Rocky is kind of freaked out by her. He doesn’t know what to think or how to react to something that small. But he is warming up to her and he will let her sleep by him for about 5 minutes till she moves around a little too much and he will move away from her. But he is playing more and more with her and trying to show her whose boss.

I must say that this is the best present that I could have ever gotten Gordon. He has been unable to put her down since we got her. He has her in his arms all the time and asleep on his chest, it is so adorable to see big Gordon with little Abi. So there you have it, the new addition to our little Flannery family in Westminster, CA.

They call me the working man

well my two weeks of unemployment are officially over. Today is my second day at Western United and I'm loving it. It's been quite a shock going from a company of 18 people to over 500 but I'm getting used to it.

They're training me on the Insurance end of it all right now and I think I'm picking it up pretty easily. My job will require me to update and reorganize the internal help pages, which after reading through a lot of them, I'm finding out this will definitely be a full time job.

At CS&O, my last job, I knew within the first week that I didn't want that job. Finances and lack of better opportunities made it so that I would stay there for 9 months and it seemed like I hated each day worse than the last. I can say after the second day here that I don't feel the same way. I really like this job so far and like the people I am working with.

In other news, I got old this weekend. I turned 30 on Sunday. I had a great weekend though to help dull the aging pains. On Tuesday the week before, Jenn told me that she was getting me a puppy. We've been talking about getting another Boston Terrier for sometime now and she surprised with that. I've never had a pet before (other than some goldfish) and I can't wait until we actually get my new dog. I still haven't settled on a name so feel free to suggest something. The weirder the better.

On Sunday Jenn and I went to the Getty Museum in LA. Since it opened I have been meaning to go there and finally I was able to go. I really had a lot of fun and got really tired walking through the whole thing. It got pretty busy around 4 at night so we decided to take off... only to get home and have a whole crapload of people in my house. Jenn had set up a surprise party for me and she got me pretty good.

I had a really good time catching up with all my family and freinds taht were there. I have to give everybody that helped a big thanks and I really enjoyed it even though I was exhausted. I'll try to put some of the pictures from the party up soon.
