Giving Thanks

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, I know Gordon and I definitely did. The week started out kind of nerve wrecking because I started my new job at Western United on Monday. I was so nervous when I got there my first day, the company is huge and the building is so intimidating. They are located off of the 405S off of Jamboree in the old Fluor Daniel building, you know, with the circular towers around them, next to Palace Park. This building has a huge food court in the middle, a gym, gift-shop and you can go to the Prudential building across from it in an underground tunnel, amazing!

I am so happy to be at a large corporation once again, it has definitely been a long time due. I am so sick of small company’s. At this company, I get a free gym membership, free AAA, discount on my car insurance through AAA, along with my medical and dental insurance I can get pet insurance and the list just goes on and on. I was telling the girl who is training me that at AOP I logged on average 800 calls a month, mostly all complaints and I was only getting paid $12.00 an hour, but I got the job only wanting to be a receptionist and light customer service and it morphed into full time receptionist, customer service, proofer and shipper, it was ridiculous, and to get a promotion I would only be making a dollar more with more stress. At Western United I am making much more money and they average 200 calls a month, pretty crazy huh. And the great thing about this place is that they don’t mind family working at the same company, as long as they are not under the same supervisor, so that means I will be trying to get Gordon in.

So yesterday for Thanksgiving we went out to Victorville and spent the day with Gordon’s family eating turkey. It was nice to be back in California this year for the holidays, we really missed hanging out and celebrating it with our families but we do miss Oregon a lot and have been rather home sick for it lately. We hope to be back there again someday to raise our family. And speaking of Oregon, our friend Miki, her brother Roy and her roommate Ben are down from Oregon this weekend, so tomorrow we will be inviting them over for some of Gordon’s good Bar-B-Q cooking, it will be nice to have a little bit of Oregon brought back our way for the holidays.

A Year Older!

Wow, two updates in a month! Things must be a changing for us Flannery’s. As some of you may or may not know, it was my birthday on Monday, November 14th. Gordon made sure that he made up for last years lonely birthday by showing me the time of my life for the whole weekend.

Saturday morning we went to my friend Christi’s wedding and it was absolutely beautiful, they had it in Dana Point at the Chart House and the buffet was to die for. I cleaned everything off of my plate, the food was so good. I got to see my old friend Maranatha, whom I haven’t seen since I was in 8th grade. She still looks and acts exactly the same, she never changed. She was still as adorable as she was at 14. She is living up in Tacoma, WA, I was bummed we weren’t in Portland anymore; I could have had another friend to hang out with. But I got her info and hopefully we will remain in touch.

After the wedding Gordon left clues all over the house and when I found the last one it revealed to me that we were going to see the Dickies play that night at a pub in Fountain Valley. So we went out to dinner that night and then we went to the pub; however the Dickies had to cancel because their drummer broke his ribs so they rescheduled for January 21st.

When we got home that night, Gordon put more clues around the house to reveal the next present. He was taking me to Disneyland on Sunday. So Sunday morning rolled around and our friends Joe & Monique got us into Disneyland, Joe has the privilege of working there and is able to get people in. So thank you Joe & Monique that was way cool of you to help out with my birthday. DLand was awesome, but now that I am 31 I completely understand why my parents would take turns taking us on the rides, it gave them time to rest. Wow, the older I get the harder it is to go on everything, there’s a lot of walking. They took our Bear Country Jamboree which used to be one of my favorites and replaced it with a Winnie the Poo ride which I have to admit is so adorable. And because it is the holidays they have the Haunted Mansion all decked out with the Nightmare Before Christmas and it is bitchen. Even Small world is all decorated with the lights and Christmas themes right now. We went on the new Tower of Terror, (thank you Monique for telling us not to eat before we went on) Gordon and I seriously thought we were going to loose it on that ride. Could go on longer, but trust me, it was a fun filled day.

Now Monday morning was my actual birthday and Gordon surprised me by taking me to Tsunami’s in Huntington Beach, it’s a Tappan Bar. My best buddy Pat was there with his son Alex and my friend Pennie with her daughter McKayla and my sister Melissa & her boyfriend Caleb. It was a great surprise and I enjoyed having everyone there.

Today, Wednesday, I received a phone call from a company that I interviewed with last week and they offered me a job at their company. I start on Monday the 21st. They will be paying me $4.00 more than the job I was doing at AOP and I will have less stress. I seriously do not know how AOP is going to stay in business if they do not pay their employees what they deserve and they expect them to give their lives over to the company for so little money, even then, people don’t give their lives to a job unless they are freaky work-a-holics or they own the company. The owner of the company has only had one other job before and that was working for his father, so he doesn’t know that normal people don’t dedicate their selves to companies like their families would in a family business, the guy needs a total reality check or he is going to loose the business, not because the product is bad but because people are going to keep walking out on him. So I am way happy, Gordon and I will start getting back on our feet once again and we will have some money to get some Christmas presents.

Also, before I go, I just discovered MySpace.com like a week or so ago from a friend of mine and I am so addicted, this is like my new crack. I have been finding friends that I haven't seen since grade school, Jr. High or High School. It is way cool. So if you want to check out MySpace site, my link is http://www.myspace.com/jenniferflannery

Until next time, have a great Thanksgiving.

Finally... A New Update!

OK... finally a new update! But honestly, I don't have much to say. Right now I am not working and I am currently doing the housewife thing and looking for a job. Gordon is still at CS&O and hates it there, he is trying to find something in Real Estate Appraisal but no luck right now. Rocky lost weight and he has now gained it all back and we are playing with the idea of getting another Boston Terrier puppy in the future. We are still working hard at trying to get pregnant but no luck yet and my birthday is next week on the 14th and I am going to be 31!

So thats everything that has been going on. And Gordon added some links for my friends here on the webpage, go ahead and check them out if you like and if you have a website or myspace account let me know, I will add you on here.
